Ford refreshed the 2015 Focus, but head-to-head, it's still not as good a car as the Dodge Dart in a lot of ways.
The Dodge Dart offers three different engine options, spread over a larger range of models than the Ford Focus. Except for the Focus ST's exclusive turbocharged engine, the Dart's available powertrains have more power than anything else the Focus offers. Both cars have a 2.0-liter I4 with 160hp as their standard engine, but step up from the base model Dart and a 2.4-liter I4 with 184hp is standard across the line. Both cars also offer specialized fuel-economy models with small turbo engines that get 40 mpg highway, but the Dart's 1.4-liter has more pep in its step than even the 2.0-liter engine. The Focus loses 37hp with its 1.0-liter turbo-engined Eco trim.
Smoother Automatic Transmission
Both cars feature a manual transmission as standard; the Dart getting a six-speed while the Focus makes due with only five speeds. However, most drivers these days prefer the convenience of an automatic gearbox. The Dodge Dart's automatic is a conventional style six-speed with a torque converter while the Focus uses a computer controlled dual clutch automatic. While this makes the Focus a little more efficient while driving fast, it means that driving at city and parking lot speeds is more cumbersome a task. The Dart shifts smoothly at low speeds and has no issues in parking lots or in stop and go traffic just creeping along.
Dynamic Good Looks
There's no denying the stylish, handsome sedan design of the all-new Dodge Dart. The comparable sedan version of the Focus is hum-drum and tends to blend into the background without a second thought. The Dart shares a family resemblance with its Charger and Challenger siblings while maintaining its own unique identity.
The 2015 Dodge Dart only has an economy price, the look and feel is all premium. Come see for yourself when you test drive one at Cutter Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep in Honolulu, HI.View Inventory
